What Is Mental Fitness?

Similar to what people understand by being physically fit - meaning you are able to handle physical challenges with ease and joy, Mental Fitness is defined as one’s capability to respond to life’s challenges with a positive, rather than a negative mindset. 

Because of that, instead of dwelling into negative thinking and being stressed, mentally fit people are able to turn almost any situation into a gift or opportunity - an important learning for life, an inspiring idea to pursue or an impulse to continue their personal development.

They become great partners, strong and inspiring leaders and forces of positive change in our society.


At the core of Mental Fitness, there are 3 fundamental practices or mental muscles:

  • Cultivate awareness of the ways in which we self-sabotage through automatic negative thought patterns called Saboteurs and intercept them

  • Consciously and voluntarily switch our mind into constructive thinking, by activating those areas of our brain, particularly our right brain, that are associated with positive emotions and attitudes towards life (called the Sage brain)

  • And then using our empathy, creativity, innovation, seeing things in perspective and acting calmly and decisively (these are known as the 5 Sage powers) transform the challenge we are presented with into a real gift or opportunity, for us or the people around us.
