“If the path before you is clear, you’re probably on someone else’s.”
―Carl Jung
Two years ago, I took a big step into the unknown: I embraced a new life, a new profession and moved with my family to a new country (our 6th).
It's been a journey filled with surprises, challenges, and profound realizations. Today, I want to share some of the most valuable lessons I've learned along the way.
Plans Change, Dreams Endure
When I started this journey, I had it all mapped out. Or so I thought. Reality had other ideas. Nothing worked out exactly as I had planned, and that was my first big lesson. Plans are helpful, but they're not set in stone. What truly matters is your dream, your vision for your life and who you choose (yes, choose!) to be. Hold onto that, even as the path beneath your feet shifts and changes. Flexibility isn't just helpful – it's essential.
Personal Growth: Your Lifeline in Turbulent Times
Committing to my personal inner growth has been the best decision I've made. It's been my anchor, my north star, my lifeline. When everything else seemed uncertain, focusing on my own development gave me a sense of purpose and direction. It's not always easy, but it's always worth it. Every challenge becomes an opportunity to learn, every setback a chance to grow stronger.
Recognize Your Vulnerable Moments
We all have moments of vulnerability, periods when we're more likely to make unwise decisions. I've certainly had my share. The key is to recognize these moments for what they are. Awareness is the first step to making better choices. When you find yourself in a vulnerable state, take a step back. Breathe. Reflect. And most importantly, be kind to yourself. Learn from these moments, but don't let them define you.
The World is Kinder Than You Think
Here's something that surprised me: there's more support, kindness, and good intentions out there than you might believe. Yes, there are people who might try to take advantage of you, especially when you're vulnerable. But there's also an abundance of genuine help and goodwill.
The real skill is discerning between what truly helps you and what doesn't, given where you're trying to go. Approach this discernment from a place of love, not fear. Remember, your beliefs create your reality. Choose to see the good, and you'll find more of it.
You're Creating Your Purpose with Every Choice
Every act, every statement shapes who you are and who you're becoming. Your purpose isn't something you find – it's something you create, choice by choice. For me, the journey of becoming 'nobody' led to the profound realization that I was truly 'somebody' – my Authentic Self.
You have the power to define your purpose and shape your identity. It's not about becoming someone else's idea of success. It's about aligning with your true self and values.
These two years have been transformative in ways I never expected. They've taught me the value of flexibility, the importance of inner growth, the power of self-awareness, the abundance of kindness in the world, and the freedom of self-definition.
Remember, your journey is unique. These lessons resonated with me, but your path will have its own twists and turns, its own revelations.
Embrace them with gratitude.
Learn from them.
Be fearless.
And most importantly, keep moving forward, one step at a time.
